2 Billion people could be fed for a whole year with the amount of food the USA throws out each year, but this is not just an American problem, it's a worldwide problem!
On average, food waste costs families up to $1,500+ per year.

I'm not pointing fingers, I know I am guilty of wasting food too, but this is shocking and such a poor, greedy way to live. I read this very interesting article this morning about a few people who are fighting against food wastage by collecting the leftovers from supermarkets, restaurants, and businesses and providing it to those who are in need-- homeless shelters, food pantries, soup kitchens, etc., composting the scraps, and converting the used cooking oil into biofuel.
Even if you don't take it that far, it's as simple as learning to 'buy only the food we'll actually eat, and eat the food we've already bought' or grown. I am challenged to cut down on my food waste and be more creative and resourceful.

Thinking of all that wasted food is making me hungry. I'm lusting after a gluten free version of these divine looking Sweet Potato Brownies. These puppies are sugar free and contain things like avocado, date paste, and chocolate!!
