The Delicious Taste of Words & The Lost Art of Handwritten Letters

pronunciation | ‘ra-sas-“va-dasubmitted by | rasas-vada submit words | here
pronunciation | ‘pEg-e-“snE-ye (PEEG-eh-snee-yeh)with thanks to | my “English Literature to the 1800s” professor, and Geoffrey Chaucer
pronunciation | ‘skin-ship a brief history | This is a pseudo-English word coined by Japanese speakers referencing existing English words; it is not strictly English. Transliterated into Japanese, it is something like スキンシップ; in Korean, which has adopted the word, it is 스킨십. It can connote ‘sharing a bath naked’, but more often has the platonic context.
I love a great word.  One that I can really bite into, juicy and flavourful.
I really need to work on expanding my vocabulary and adding some of these vibrant words to my every days.  In school, when we were told to look up a word's definition,  I would lose myself on a rabbit trail of words, my eyes drifting from one unusual word to the next, before finding my way back.
Other wordly is a celebration of words!   A young girl, majoring in English created this blog to simply facilitate a delicious little space for strange and lovely words to collect.  I have found it terribly enjoyable scrolling through these pages that celebrate the beauty of words.

I am half way through reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.  It is 100% endearing.  If anyone is looking for a delightful autumn read, I definitely recommend this one.  The entire book's story is told through letter writing which may seem a bit stodgy if you're thinking of those boring 'Dear ....., How are you? I am fine.' types, but this is anything but.  Back in the day it seems people really knew  how to write letters well, they were little personalised pieces of literature.  So, having been inspired and prompted by this book,  I went out, bought some cards, and wrote some letters.

Take a look at this!  Leah Dieterich's mother told her to always take the time to write thank you notes.  Now she writes them every day, to everything.  Here are a few to enjoy.
Dear Snarl at the Nape of my Neck
Dear Recent Cold and Period
Dear People Near Me Speaking Langauges
Dear Sirens
